Self Scrub

Each client receives their own personal link with a user name and password.  From one dedicated IP, they can scrub a file up to 100 MB in size and choose how they want it scrubbed whether Lite, Overhaul or Overdrive.  This new feature also includes mx records scrubbing and many different options to choose from by themselves like small domains removal.  More information about our online server (instructions) can be found here.

The new online server is twice as fast as our Manual FTP option and clients can now scrub any time they want 24/7 by themselves.  90% of all our clients are using this online do-it-yourself system.

Online Scrubbing System Instructions

The system uses 7-zip for windows to compress all files. You must download and use this utility in order to get your files. Click the image above to download. If you are a MAC user, Zipeg works really well and should do the job just fine.

Click on this link to login to the scrubber.

Your user name and password was sent to you via the IT person’s email when you filled out this form:

Decision Maker Name:

  • IT Person Name
  • Company Name
  • IT Email Address
  • Physical Address
  • City
  • State
  • Zip
  • Phone
  • IP (you are only allowed one IP per account)

If you have not received this information, please contact James Carner at info@quickiemarketing.com and we will send you your login credentials.

Once you received the user name and password, go ahead and login:

Before you upload a file, it is important to recognize “how to” prepare the file so the system can scrub at it’s peak performance. We have found that quotations marks inside of lists slows the scrubbing process down considerably. Hours versus minutes! The system allows you to enter the delimiter that your file is using to separate the columns by entering the delimiter in by yourself before you upload the file. Our system performs the best when clients use plain comma delimited. .csv

The below image tells you exactly how to upload a file into the system. You must remember not to leave the screen until the file has completely uploaded. A green bar will appear across the screen that gives you instructions next. Files can take up to an hour if they are up to 1 gb. Remember that the system only allows you to upload up to 1.2 gb. Anything over that file size will not be processed correctly.

After you have uploaded your file completely (the green bar has given you a verification of completion), the system tells you where the file is located for manipulation. Click on “Reporting & Scrubbing” and it will take you to the area where all of your files are stored for current scrubbing or future scrubbing. Remember, you can only scrub 1 file at a time. After the file has been scrubbed, you can go back and re-scrub the file using another setting if you wish. If you scrub the file on LITE first and then OVERHAUL second, it will show both files available for download. If you scrub the file on LITE and then LITE again, the system erases the old file and replaces with the new, so please as a precaution, download all files before rescrubbing.

Aborting a file while scrubbing is possible, however, the system cannot abort until after the current stage is complete. After the abort, you may go back and rescrub the file. It’s best not to abort the scrub. Try and let it complete first and go back and redo the scrub after.

Choosing how to scrub the file with all options:

Click on the file you want to scrub and then click on “Start Scrubbing”

Then you will be prompted with 3 choices:

Select the one you want to scrub with. If you are unsure which one to choose, read these instructions below to find the right selection to scrub:

Lite (most popular) is used for all common scrubs. It scrubs against our known traps file of almost 7 million, against our known complainers file of 40 million, against our known bounce file of 50 million, against our threat domains & strings and now we can scrub with mx records validation which ecompasses all needs for a complete and thorough scrub. You can scrub against b2b, coreg, leads, third party lists, harvested and any other list of emails with multi-column support. Most clients are now using Lite.

Overhaul scrubs against a 3 gb suppression of new & legacy opt out subscribers from 2006 – present. It has all of the same functions as Lite but includes one of the best opt out unsubscribe lists in the world.

Overdrive scrubs against a 6 gb suppression of new & legacy opt out subscribers from 1999 – present. It’s the same thing has Overhaul but with even more unsubscribes dating back to 1999. You would only need to use Overhaul or Overdrive if you want to scrub against the global do not email list or to cut back on complaints.

The default settings to the left is self-explanatory. These are settings that we feel are completely necessary – they are not customizable. However, you have many options to choose from when it comes to selectiveness and saving emails. Scrubbing now is more personalized to match your own requirements. You can check or uncheck options, choose between Lite, Overhaul or Overdrive and then start the scrubbing process.

Explanation of customizable options:

This setting is default because after years of scrubbing, we have noticed that any character beyond 45 in length usually is a seed or not a serious email. You can unselect this option if you want to keep any length of email.

This isn’t a big issue, but many domains in the past that started with numbers were considered fake, false or traps. This is checked by default, but it’s not really needed. You can uncheck this option if you wish.

This means any email with numbers only before the @ sign. These could be potential seeds. Since we have most of the traps and seeds anyways, it is unnessary to select this option even though it is defaulted.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS SETTING. Default is set to 3. You cannot change the number to 4 because you cannot create an email with more than 3 dots (indluding the .com) in it. Usually emails with up to 3 dots in them are B2B and would be best to keep this option checked and default to 3 if your list is coreg (consumers only). If your list is B2B, uncheck this option. DO NOT PLACE ANY NUMBER INSIDE THE SQUARE OTHER THAN 1, 2 or 3. If you place 4 in there, the system will “hang”. We will fix that bug later by adding this option as a drop down menu.

This is a good setting to remove bots and/or seeds. Best to leave this setting alone.

This is the algorythm setting other scrubbing companies use to combat traps. Since we have most of the traps, you do not need this checked. But if you’re paranoid and want to make sure you get rid of potential traps that we do not have, leave this default. You can add up to 100 emails per domain, but be very careful. This setting gets rid of so many “good” emails. We feel it’s not needed anymore. This setting is old school, but we have it set to default just in case.

Notice this is unchecked as default. Our server is fast, but checking and pinging against mx records takes a long time. An average 1 mb file (email only) takes a 1/2 hour inside this setting only (stage). Add15 minutes to each additional megabyte and that will be the typical speed of scrubbing with this setting. You should only scrub small files on this setting. We will speed up this process soon.

Uncheck the top “Extract foreign emails” checkbox to uncheck all of the foreign emails or scroll down one by one and uncheck the ones you want to remain inside your lists. We remove all foreign emails by default.

After you have selected your options, click the start button. After you click start, the system will show a green bar that says, “Started the scrubbing process”.

Now click Reporting And Scrubbing. Here you will see the many stages our system uses in order to finish the scrub. There are currently 25 stages before completion.

Right click and hit “refresh” or “reload” depending on which browser you use. Hitting refresh will show the current stage it is in:

When the scrubbing has completed, the system will send the IT person (user name) the file via a download link and you can also download the file online:

Click on the number.zip file located in the row of the file you were scrubbing (the system shows a count of how many files it has scrubbed so far for internal reporting purposes). Now, you will see a zip file on your desktop (or wherever you saved the file onto ypur computer). Unzip using Winzip or Winrar and there will be a random folder number with files inside that looks like this:

That’s it!
